Icecream scoops top award
An ice cream maker’s creativity has been recognised with the Cuisine 2014 best artisan experience award.
Gianpaolo Grazioli’s tiramisu icecream was one of 40 artisan products named as finalists from more than 70 entries.
Mr Grazioli then went on to become one of 10 winners.
The Giapo icecream store owner also entered his tiramisu ice cream in the Australasian leg of the Gelato World Tour in Melbourne last year ( Auckland City Harbour News, October 4).
But the sweet treat wasn’t selected to go on to compete for the title of World’s Best Gelato at an event which will be held in Rimini in Italy in September.
‘‘We did not make it but I am pretty sure the flavour was the most popular there as we had the longest line and everybody loved it,’’ he says.
He and the other nine winners of the Cuisine artisan awards 2014 will be celebrated at an awards dinner at The Sugar Club on March 20.
