Parking issues

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

I was interested to read the article about parking issues in the March 12 issue of Auckland City Harbour News.

Unless I am very much mistaken, the parking areas that the residents are complaining about is on public land. I fail to see how being a resident of these inner city suburbs justifies special treatment when it comes to the use of public property.

If they buy or rent property without a parking space, they should not expect the rest of Auckland to subsidise them by providing on-street parking for residents’ exclusive use.

Should the council decide to provide resident permits, these should be at a fair market rate for the public resource that they will be monopolising.
