I have read over the months or years about people having a gripe about Eden Park and the Western Springs race cars.
I am in my late 70s and I can say that those places have been around for longer than those who complain.
When I was 9 or 10 years old my middle-aged cousins used to take my siblings and me to see the little cars racing at Western Springs, and when I was at secondary school my friends and I sat on wooden plank seats on the slopes around Eden Park to watch the Empire Games.
I live about 200 metres from Eden Park and when I hear the cheering I am reminded that families are out in the fresh air, enjoying time away from the TV and computers, etc.
When buying a property it is sensible to check out the area and look at what is around. I grew up on a farm in Pakuranga and the wonderful peace of those days are long gone. It is no good buying in an area then complaining if you don’t check it out. Maybe double glazing the windows could help, or understand that the noise is shortlived. Not like noisy neighbours!
