Quay St cable work

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

Work to replace underground cables is likely to cause some disruption on Quay St over the next week. The electricity cables, which were laid in 1927, are being changed because they are well beyond there life expectancy and could fail at any time, Vector government relations manager Nicholas Albrecht says. The project runs from March 25 to April 4 and involves trenching, realigning and laying of cables along Quay St to 100m short of the intersection with The Strand. Work will take place at night from 7pm to 6am and traffic management will be in place to converge eastbound traffic to one lane.
