Appreciate the beauty
What do you like best about the city?
The combination of harbours and volcanic cones give ample opportunity for a moment to admire the natural beauty of the city, wherever you are heading. You just need to stop and make sure you look up.
How long have you lived here and where are you originally from?
Born in Wellington and made the move to Auckland at the age of two. I grew up in Waitakere city and have lived on and off in Kingsland/Grey Lynn for the last seven years.
What do you like least and how can we fix it?
Polluted waterways, litter, angry bus drivers. A little conscious effort looking at how our behaviour affects the environment and people around us can lead to a better existence for all. For example low impact design, walking to a rubbish bin, taking a deep breath.
Where’s the best place to buy dinner in the city?
Kuta Bali in Ponsonby Food Court. Fast service, always fresh and delicious. I rarely can force myself to go anywhere else.
Who does the best fish n chips?
Newton Fish and Chippery, bagged up and taken down to Meola Reef for a sunset picnic.
Who is the Kiwi you admire most and why?
Lord Echo a.k.a. Mike Fabulous of The Black Seeds. He has released two full albums under this moniker, pooling together some of New Zealand’s finest talent, with a sound that transports you across continents and through time.
If I was Auckland’s mayor I would ..... . Promote the free movement of pedestrians and increase shared zone areas within the urban centres. Implement dedicated cycle lanes and programmes to encourage equality among all road users.
Chris: Loves living in Grey Lynn.
