Colourful Grey Lynn
What do you like best about living in Grey Lynn?
I love the the close proximity about this area – the fact there is everything I could possibly need, all in a 1km radius.
How long have you lived here and where are you from originally?
I was born in Grey Lynn and have lived here all my life (apart from various years overseas). My family still live just five blocks around the corner. I now own a house with my sisters in Grey Lynn . . . looks like I will be here a long, long time!
What do you like least and how can we fix it?
Growing up there was a wonderful, arty, eccentric, colourful spirit about this community and I miss that. I also miss Espresso Love and Open Late Cafe.
Where’s the best place to buy dinner in the area?
I love to eat at Conch on Ponsonby Rd, catch up with the lovely staff there and enjoy a beer in the sun. The arepas are pretty phenomenal but I can’t go past the vegetarian tacos.
And who does the best fish and chips?
Pommes frites on Richmond Rd has been my favourite since I was little.
Who is the Kiwi you admire most – and why?
Ella Mizrahi, it’s why she’s my business partner. She has a drive and passion that I’ve never met in anyone else. It’s so inspiring getting to work with someone every day who pushes you to be better and think bigger.
If I was the mayor of Auckland I’d . . .
Invest money towards public arts and making Auckland a vibrant, enjoyable city to live in. Also, I would love to work more on public transport and cycle ways.
When I’ve got a few free hours I like to . . .
Catch up with friends or family, for a wine or a walk.
The spot in Central Auckland I’d like to recommend to tourists is . . .
Western Park, for a lovely park to relax in. K Road for interesting shops and people, and Ponsonby for great food and a night out.
