Building’s odd history

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

Kingseat Hospital is a former mental health facility with 59 buildings on 58.6 hectares. It officially closed in 1999.

Several incidents of patients disappearing after wandering off from the hospital were reported. Some were put down as drownings among the mangroves in the nearby harbour. The bodies were never found.

Ghost tours were set up in the early 2000s before the arrival of the Spookers haunted house attraction.

Cameras set up to record people’s reactions to Spookers’ pranks have allegedly picked up unexplained figures.

People have complained of furniture being moved, cold spots and a strong smell of sulphur in the buildings.

None of those findings have been confirmed.
