Breakfasts have 2000 target
Registrations are open for Pink Ribbon Breakfasts in May to raise funds for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
It is hoped New Zealanders will host more than 2000 breakfasts this year with proceeds going towards breast cancer research. Last year 1800 were held raising $750,000.
Foundation ambassador and former Miss Universe Lorraine Downes is encouraging people to invite their friends and colleagues to a breakfast. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012 and was successfully treated.
At least 100 cafes nationwide will donate a portion of their May breakfast profits to Pink Ribbon Breakfast. The foundation has committed to invest $1.4 million in breast cancer research so far in 2013-14 and hopes to increase that total.
