Helpers wanted for cricket world cup work
Volunteers are needed for behind the scenes work during The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.
The tournament runs from February 14 to March 29, 2015 on both sides of the Tasman and includes four fixtures in Auckland.
A Pool A Match will be played by Australia and New Zealand on February 28 at Eden Park, followed by Pool B matches between South Africa and Pakistan (March 7) and India and Zimbabwe (March 14). A semifinal will also be played at the venue on March 24.
Around 450 volunteers are needed in Auckland to assist with a range of tasks around accreditation, commercial and sponsor servicing, event operations, media and broadcast operations, spectator and fan services, transport, VIP and hospitality and workforce needs. Candidates will be interviewed in May and training will take place in January.
All applicants must be 17 years or older.
‘‘Volunteers are in many cases the face of the tournament for fans, media and officials. It’s a great way for Kiwis to be involved in the Cricket World Cup and help showcase the rich diversity of our communities and our ability to be great hosts,’’ Therese Walsh, head of New Zealand for ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, says.
‘‘We want volunteers to get the most out of their ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 experience and hopefully use it as a springboard for new opportunities – whether it’s volunteering in their local area or opening the door to a new career.’’
