Momentum: Helping teens achieve their dreams
Established in Auckland in 2008, Momentum Life Coaching and Training is aligned with the International Coach Federation and is considered one of New Zealand’s leading Life Coaching establishments.
Momentum founder, Vivienne Kelly and head trainer Sarah Lanigan, have developed an innovative programme designed to bridge the gap between adolescence and adulthood.
‘‘Many students leave school completely undecided as to what to do or study, while others continue in a direction which has been chosen for the wrong reasons. Momentum for Youth – Career Coaching Workshops have been designed to empower and motivate the youth of New Zealand to take ownership of their lives, build self esteem and gain clarity in a career direction that aligns with who they really are, and what drives them at their deepest core,’’ Sarah says.
Recently there have been some seriously worrying statistics regarding youth in New Zealand. The Tertiary Education Commission says one in five students drop out of tertiary study within the first year and 40 per cent of students who embark on courses after school do not finish them. Students are under pressure to make informed decisions half way through secondary school, regarding subject choices that will shape their career path.
This is an important time in their lives and the added stress can make such decisions rather daunting.
Momentum for Youth’s aim is to positively impact on these staggering statistics by equipping young people with the tools and skills they require to make confident, informed and focused decisions regarding their life and career path. Momentum understand that making a career path choice is not always easy and a little help can go a long way – which is why they are passionate about providing just that.
With class numbers limited, Career Development Coaches provide students with the focused individual attention they need. Momentum’s after-school and weekend programmes run over five weeks with one, twohour session per week. They will also be offering condensed holiday programme workshops.
