Dr Kim McGre­gor has been ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of Rape Pre­ven­tion Ed­u­ca­tion Whakatu Mauri since 2005. She has worked as a ther­a­pist with sur­vivors of sex­ual vi­o­lence since 1986.

She has writ­ten two self-help books, War­riors of Truth and Sur­viv­ing and Mov­ing On, for adult sur­vivors of child sex­ual abuse. McGre­gor also wrote the first set of ACC na­tional guide­lines for ther­a­pists work­ing in the field.

She has been on the Task Force for Ac­tion on Sex­ual Vi­o­lence, was a found­ing mem­ber of Project Re­store and served on ACC’s Sen­si­tive Claims Ad­vi­sory Group from 2011 to 2013. Her work with ACC was on be­half of Te Ohaaki a Hine Na­tional Net­work End­ing Sex­ual Vi­o­lence To­gether Tauiwi Cau­cus, which she was on for al­most nine years.

McGre­gor led the first na­tional sex­ual vi­o­lence pre­ven­tion strat­egy from 2005 to 2013 and set up the first na­tional sex­ual vi­o­lence pre­ven­tion co-or­di­na­tor role.

She works along­side schools, whanau and ran­gatahi pro­grammes on Rape Pre­ven­tion Ed­u­ca­tion ini­tia­tives. She is work­ing to ex­tend pre­ven­tion pro­grammes to 120 schools across Auck­land.
