Pridelands cleanup after wind howls through

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

Wild weather put Auckland Zoo out of action this week.

Most of the damage caused by high winds on Tuesday night and in the early hours of Wednesday morning was limited to the Pridelands enclosure, a zoo spokesman says.

‘‘We’ve had some fairly big branches fall down in public areas,’’ he says.

The zoo was closed on Wednesday and parts of the affected enclosure were expected to remain shut for days while the damage was assessed.

All of the zoo’s animals were safely contained during the severe weather, the spokesman says.

Most animals are moved inside overnight anyway, he says.
