Participants are being sought for a new study to determine if a smartphone application can help people with heart disease eat less salt. Researchers are looking for 300 Aucklanders with heart disease, aged 40 years and above. Study participants will be randomly allocated to an intervention group which will have access to the app, or a control group, which won’t. People selected to join the study will be asked to attend two assessments either at the University of Auckland clinics in Glen Innes or at the Auckland Hospital clinics in Grafton. Participants need to own a smartphone capable of downloading apps and will be reimbursed for their time and travel to attend the study visits.
