Create areas for community

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

What do you like best about the city?

All the beaches, and views of the sea – east and west. I returned from Melbourne for these reasons!

How long have you lived here and where are you originally from?

I have lived here for 17 years. I’m originally from Taupo.

What do you like least and how can we fix it?

Everyone is too busy, rushing to work and rushing home again on crowded motorways. Create areas for the community to hang together – a bit like what they are doing at Britomart with music, art and beanbags. Where’s the best place to buy dinner

in the city?

For a beautiful dining, and consistently delicious food, Prego, otherwise I do love Vietnamese pho and bangbang prawns at Cafe Viet in Grey Lynn.

Who does the best fish n chips?

Naturopaths don’t eat fried food. Try a fresh Asian soup instead at Cafe Viet.

Who is the Kiwi admire most and why?

Sue Kedgley for her fight for healthy spray-free and GE-free food.

If I was Auckland’s mayor I would…

Ban genetically modified organisms (GMOs), pesticides and encourage lifestyle changes within a five-day week. Everyone is far too busy.

When I’ve got a few hours free I like to.... Read a good book. The spot in the city I’d recommend most to tourists is…

The Muriwai gannet colony, 40 minutes drive for an exhilarating experience. Re-ionise yourself on a West Coast beach.

Angela Haldane: It was Auckland’s beautiful beaches that coaxed Haldane back to the City of Sails.
