Do you know a young per­son con­tribut­ing to the peace­ful na­ture of Auck­land? Nom­i­na­tions close to­day for the an­nual Auck­land – City of Peace Youth Awards. Young peo­ple between 13 and 24 are el­i­gi­ble. Their con­tri­bu­tion could in­clude or­gan­is­ing con­flict res­o­lu­tion pro­grammes, cel­e­brat­ing cul­tural di­ver­sity, fo­cussing on hu­man rights or car­ing for the en­vi­ron­ment. The awards are de­liv­ered an­nu­ally by the coun­cil and The Peace Foun­da­tion to recog­nise young peo­ple’s con­tri­bu­tion to peace ser­vices and lead­er­ship around Auck­land. Auck­land was named a City for Peace in June 2012. The award cer­e­mony will be held at the Western Springs Gar­den Hall on Septem­ber 21.
