Send kids on a cruise

Auckland City Harbour News - - OPINION -

Do you know a child who needs a bit of a lift?

The Mad Butcher and Suburban Newspapers Community Trust has teamed up with The Red Boats charter company to give 30 children and their caregivers a free threehour harbour cruise on November 23.

Trust chairman David Penny says the inaugural 2013 cruise was a huge success.

‘‘Generous management from The Red Boats approached us with this idea and did everything possible to make sure these children got the opportunity of a lifetime,’’ he says. ‘‘Some of these children had never been on a boat before and got a huge thrill out of it.’’

The Auckland City Harbour News is asking readers to nominate youngsters for this year’s special trip and tell us why they deserve to go.

We’re especially interested in kids who are overdue for a bit of joy in their lives. The cruise will include entertainment and a bite to eat.
