Inner city meeting
Solutions to the challenges faced by inner-city dwellers will be discussed at a public meeting tomorrow. The Inner City Network has been launched to connect social, community and business organisations to resolve issues in the central city. It will workshop actions towards addressing the isolation of some apartment living, lack of recreational opportunities, transport challenges, homelessness and language barriers. The inner city includes the area north of Karangahape Rd and within the motorway network. Professor Love Chile will attend the launch to outline some of the key findings of his research Connectedness in the Inner City. The network was spearheaded by The Auckland District Council of Social Services, a networking organisation of social and community service organisations, and is being resourced by Auckland Council and Department of Internal Affairs. It has the support of the Auckland CBD Residents Advisory Group, city centre community development group Splice, Parnell Trust and other business and community groups. The meeting will be held from 11.45am to 1.45pm at the Auckland Town Hall Council Chambers.
