In­ner city meet­ing

So­lu­tions to the chal­lenges faced by in­ner-city dwellers will be dis­cussed at a pub­lic meet­ing to­mor­row. The In­ner City Net­work has been launched to con­nect so­cial, com­mu­nity and business or­gan­i­sa­tions to re­solve is­sues in the cen­tral city. It will work­shop ac­tions to­wards ad­dress­ing the iso­la­tion of some apart­ment liv­ing, lack of recre­ational op­por­tu­ni­ties, trans­port chal­lenges, home­less­ness and lan­guage bar­ri­ers. The in­ner city in­cludes the area north of Karanga­hape Rd and within the mo­tor­way net­work. Pro­fes­sor Love Chile will at­tend the launch to out­line some of the key find­ings of his re­search Con­nect­ed­ness in the In­ner City. The net­work was spear­headed by The Auck­land Dis­trict Coun­cil of So­cial Ser­vices, a net­work­ing or­gan­i­sa­tion of so­cial and com­mu­nity ser­vice or­gan­i­sa­tions, and is be­ing re­sourced by Auck­land Coun­cil and Depart­ment of In­ter­nal Af­fairs. It has the support of the Auck­land CBD Res­i­dents Ad­vi­sory Group, city cen­tre com­mu­nity de­vel­op­ment group Splice, Par­nell Trust and other business and com­mu­nity groups. The meet­ing will be held from 11.45am to 1.45pm at the Auck­land Town Hall Coun­cil Cham­bers.
