Homeowners now have until 5pm on December 23 to object to their 2014 rating valuations. Auckland Council acting chief financial officer Kevin Ramsay says many people had difficulty accessing the new values online when they were published on November 10. This year’s residential capital value has increased 34.8 per cent on average since 2011. By now most property owners should have received their new values in the mail. Valuations, which are completed every three years, will be used to help determine the share of rates for each property for the year beginning July 1, 2015. Call 0508 000 021 for more details.
