Down­pour shuts down park’s cricket matches

Day two of the Tom Hellaby match be­tween Grafton United and Corn­wall at Vic­to­ria Park was aban­doned with­out a ball be­ing bowled.

The vis­i­tors looked to be in a com­mand­ing po­si­tion af­ter day one when they amassed 387/6, but the heavy down­pours on Satur­day morn­ing put paid to the rest of the game.

Corn­wall now sit third on the mi­nor cham­pi­onship lad­der, six points be­hind lead­ers North Shore, while Grafton re­main rooted to the foot of the ta­ble.

Corn­wall 387/6 dec (M Thor­nely 100, B Che­maly 94, M Gup­till-Bunce 83, S An­der­son 56) drew with Grafton United 21/2.
