Toth says. ‘‘Af­ter com­ing up, a lady [who is paral­ysed from the waist down] told me it was lib­er­at­ing.

‘‘Un­der­wa­ter she doesn’t feel any pain.’’

‘‘A guy also told me it’s the first time he ‘stood up’ in eight years.

‘‘It’s very dif­fi­cult to de­scribe. I know how for­tu­nate we are – there’s noth­ing wrong with them – but I def­i­nitely ap­pre­ci­ate life a lot more.’’
