Liam Jor­dan, son of the late Auck­land City FC striker Keryn Jor­dan, has made his in­ter­na­tional de­but for South Africa un­der-17 as a sec­ond half sub­sti­tute in a 2-2 draw with Cote D’Ivoire. The for­mer Mt Al­bert Gram­mar stu­dent took to the pitch wear­ing his fa­ther’s fa­mous num­ber 14, says his de­but is just an­other step in the amaz­ing story of a foot­ball fam­ily. ‘‘I specif­i­cally chose jer­sey num­ber 14 be­cause I want to wear the num­ber for my­self and my late fa­ther. Jor­dan’s fa­ther Keryn was voted ASB Premier­ship Player of the Decade af­ter a tro­phy­laden ca­reer with Auck­land City FC that in­cluded ap­pear­ances at the FIFA Club World Cup in 2006 and 2009.
