Few arrests

It was one of the most thrilling games of cricket this country’s ever seen and Saturday’s World Cup match between the Black Caps and Australia also had the police leaving Eden Park with smiles on their faces. More than 40,000 fans turned up for the match with only one arrest and 21 people evicted. Auckland City Police Inspector Peter Gibson says the event was a great demonstration of the worldclass events that the city hosts. ‘‘Overall the event ran smoothly and while there was some congestion experienced with moving the crowd in and out of the stadium before and after the game, from a police perspective it can be considered a success.’’
