Grafton Utd will need to lift their game

Grafton United will go into this Sun­day’s match with Eden Roskill bat­tered and bruised af­ter suf­fer­ing an out­right de­feat at the hands of top of the ta­ble side North Shore.

Shore be­gan day two with first innings points al­ready in the bag, as well as hav­ing their op­po­nents three wickets down in the sec­ond innings while still 27 runs be­hind.

And af­ter be­ing dis­missed for just 59 in their first innings Grafton didn’t fare too much bet­ter in their sec­ond innings.

Dilon Peris was the only bats­man to reach 20 as Matt Selby 3/13, Josh Tas­man­Jones, 2/14, and Shee­han Huri, 2/22, bowled well, while the pre­mier grade’s lead­ing wicket-taker Carl Brun­gar added a fur­ther three wickets to the five first innings scalps he claimed to take his in­cred­i­ble sea­sonal tally to 70 at an av­er­age of just 11.61.

Af­ter 45 overs Grafton had been dis­missed for a mea­gre 97 leav­ing Shore a tar­get of just 44 for victory, which they reached in just 7.3 overs with­out los­ing a wicket.

Score­board: Grafton United 59 (C Brun­gar 5/26, T Salmon 3/13) & 97 (M Selby 3/13, C Brun­gar 3/30) lost to North Shore 113/9 dec (R Thom­son 46, P Pa­tel 6/30) & 44/0 out­right by 10 wickets.
