Grafton Utd will need to lift their game
Grafton United will go into this Sunday’s match with Eden Roskill battered and bruised after suffering an outright defeat at the hands of top of the table side North Shore.
Shore began day two with first innings points already in the bag, as well as having their opponents three wickets down in the second innings while still 27 runs behind.
And after being dismissed for just 59 in their first innings Grafton didn’t fare too much better in their second innings.
Dilon Peris was the only batsman to reach 20 as Matt Selby 3/13, Josh TasmanJones, 2/14, and Sheehan Huri, 2/22, bowled well, while the premier grade’s leading wicket-taker Carl Brungar added a further three wickets to the five first innings scalps he claimed to take his incredible seasonal tally to 70 at an average of just 11.61.
After 45 overs Grafton had been dismissed for a meagre 97 leaving Shore a target of just 44 for victory, which they reached in just 7.3 overs without losing a wicket.
Scoreboard: Grafton United 59 (C Brungar 5/26, T Salmon 3/13) & 97 (M Selby 3/13, C Brungar 3/30) lost to North Shore 113/9 dec (R Thomson 46, P Patel 6/30) & 44/0 outright by 10 wickets.
