This week­end sees the start of the 2015 Lotto North­ern League, with the New North Rd derby be­tween lo­cal first di­vi­sion teams Mt Al­bert-Pon­sonby and Metro.

Games kick off at 7pm at An­der­son Park tonight.

On Satur­day, Cen­tral United and Three Kings United meet in a Cen­tral Auck­land derby at the Croa­t­ian Cul­tural Club, while two other lo­cal pre­mier league teams, Bay Olympic and One­hunga Sports, face road trips to Melville United and Waitakere City re­spec­tively.

West­ern Springs, last sea­son’s first di­vi­sion cham­pi­ons, begin life in the pre­mier league with a 5pm en­counter on Satur­day against Birken­head United at Sed­don Fields.

Sec­ond di­vi­sion teams get their cam­paigns un­der way also. One­hunga-Man­gere United host Al­bany United to Man­gere Domain on Satur­day, while Lynn-Avon United head to league new­com­ers AFC Fury on Sun­day.

They meet the Bay of Plenty club at Mara­matanga Park.

Sun­day is also the day the Lotto North­ern Pre­mier Women’s League gets un­der way.

Three Kings, un­der new coach Alan Hind­son, and star sign­ing Hannah Wall, take on ti­tle-hold­ers Forrest Hil­lMil­ford United at Keith Hay Park.

Lynn-Avon en­ter­tain ASB Na­tional Women’s Knock­out Cup hold­ers Glen­field Rovers at Ken Maun­der Park.

A new-look West­ern Springs team are at home to Fen­ci­bles United on open­ing day.

Hands up: Auck­land Girls Gram­mar School and De La Salle mixed un­der-19 team af­ter fin­ish­ing sec­ond to Kaipara Col­lege by 0.37sec at the Auck­land Sec­ondary Schools Waka Ama Re­gatta.

Star sign­ing: Hannah Wall has signed with Three Kings United for the 2015 sea­son.
