Threat to services

Auckland City Harbour News - - OPINION -

There is mounting concern in many local communities that the first victim of funding cuts will be at many of our local libraries.

In order to fund this mad Central Rail Link love affair of mayor Len Brown’s creation, our local services and facilities will be even further reduced, like the mowing of berms.

Every day there is disappointing news of council’s excessive expenditures, be it staff appointments overseas, overspending without cost benefit analysis or even more rates rises.

The two human faces of council – its parks/reserves and libraries – should never be under any sort of funding threats.

As the old saying goes, charity begins at home.
