More bus lanes

More bus lanes are be­ing added to ar­te­rial roads. Auck­land Trans­port’s bus pri­or­ity pro­gramme aims to im­prove travel times and re­li­a­bil­ity. Im­prove­ments made al­ready this year in­clude a new city-bound bus lane in Sy­monds St, a link in the Fan­shawe St city­bound bus lane at the Mar­ket Place and Fan­shawe St in­ter­sec­tion, and an in­bound bus lane in Do­min­ion Rd be­tween Richard­son Rd and Den­bigh Ave. Fur­ther bus lane ex­pan­sions are planned for Khy­ber Pass, Welles­ley St, Vic­to­ria St, and Park Rd in Par­nell. Com­muters are con­tin­u­ing to re­spond well to changes. Public trans­port pa­tron­age reached 77 mil­lion pas­sen­ger board­ings for the year to Fe­bru­ary. This in­crease is up 9.5 per cent on the pre­vi­ous year, Auck­land Trans­port’s bus ser­vices manager Bren­don Main says. Go to for in­for­ma­tion.
