More bus lanes
More bus lanes are being added to arterial roads. Auckland Transport’s bus priority programme aims to improve travel times and reliability. Improvements made already this year include a new city-bound bus lane in Symonds St, a link in the Fanshawe St citybound bus lane at the Market Place and Fanshawe St intersection, and an inbound bus lane in Dominion Rd between Richardson Rd and Denbigh Ave. Further bus lane expansions are planned for Khyber Pass, Wellesley St, Victoria St, and Park Rd in Parnell. Commuters are continuing to respond well to changes. Public transport patronage reached 77 million passenger boardings for the year to February. This increase is up 9.5 per cent on the previous year, Auckland Transport’s bus services manager Brendon Main says. Go to at.govt.nz for information.
