Leave it alone

Auckland City Harbour News - - OPINION -

If the Albert-Eden Local Board’s area has the fewest sports areas (not to be confused with many local parks, reserves and open spaces) why would you want to place a Chinese garden on a longestablished Chamberlain Park Golf Course? The expressive garden proposal is just (forgive the pun) doing the rounds, surely?

We had a beautiful gardens site and venue at Western Springs.

Len Brown didn’t see fit to save that, but that would have been an ideal site. Rumours persist that Auckland Council’s parks department has been pushed sideways with its control, operational management of Chamberlain Park by pressure for its local board engineering local body elections. And yet other rumours say the land is to be used for a special housing area.

Please leave the present park alone, and no local electioneering from a desperate board and its chairman.
