January 26, 2015 for Fred Taylor Drive works to reduce to one lane. Construction of the new road in the southwestern corner of the Westgate development area began in April 2013. Finish date: 2017 with further connected work including Hobsonville Point Rd’s permanent park and ride and to 2020 for starts to the Hobsonville Rd upgrade construction and Brigham Creek Rd widening.
Drivers complain about the difficulty of getting on to Fred Taylor Drive from different directions including the northwestern motorway.
Leigh Webb, Avondale Inconvenience factor: 3 – Give me a blood pressure pill! (With a shot of vodka!) Webb doesn’t see any progress with road works as part of the Westgate town centre development. ‘‘It hasn’t progressed as far as I can see. It’s a real pain when trying to do shopping and visiting family. Everything is clogged up.’’
