Prices rise quicker
Local house prices have increased faster in the Auckland City Harbour News’ circulation area than any other area of Auckland since the start of the year, according to Barfoot & Thompson. ‘‘The average sale price over the past 12 months at the end of March for local homes was $1.016 million, a 9 per cent increase over the past three months,’’ managing director Peter Thompson says. ‘‘It makes this area the fastest growing in terms of price across the entire city in the past quarter, more than double the 3.9 per cent experienced Auckland wide. ‘‘Sales of property across Auckland in March were unprecedented, with record prices being achieved. ‘‘Locally, the average sale price in March was $1.372 million. ‘‘During the month we sold one local home for in excess of $4 million, two for in excess of $3 million, two for in excess of $2 million and 26 for in excess of $1 million.’’ Suburbs of greatest sales activity in March were Ponsonby, Mt Albert and Grey Lynn.
