PASIFIKA: THE NUMBERS

Auckland City Harbour News - - NEWS -

The Pasifika Festival has been held at Western Springs since it began in 1993, apart from this year’s last-minute move to Manukau due to the fruit fly outbreak.

The festival was created by Auckland City Council and the South Pacific Island Nations Development Association in 1992, with the original aim to bring Pacific Island communities closer together and to celebrate the richness and variety added to Auckland’s culture, values and lifestyle.

ATEED has run the event since 2011, this year through private events company The Orange Group. ATEED put $350,000 into Pasifika this year, the same amount as it did in 2013 and 2014. Last year 77,000 people showed up to the event at Western Springs over two days.
