A charity art auction will raise funds for the Auckland Women’s Centre tomorrow, May 16. The Grey Lynn centre is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Artists, including Fatu Feu’u and Belinda Wilson have contributed a variety of works to be auctioned off and Tony Piggott has donated his art collection for the cause. Auction co-ordinator Soala Wilson says the women’s centre is a vital resource for women and their families. ‘‘Proceeds from the art auction will be used where it is most needed, providing a range of free, or affordable, quality services and participatory projects for women,’’ she says. ‘‘We are excited to see so many local artists contributing to the event.’’ Works are available to view at The Works Hair Salon, 142 Williamson Ave, Grey Lynn today, May 15, from 3pm to 9pm and tomorrow, May 16, from 3pm to 6pm. The silent auction closes tomorrow at 7pm, when the live auction begins.
