A char­ity art auc­tion will raise funds for the Auck­land Women’s Cen­tre to­mor­row, May 16. The Grey Lynn cen­tre is cel­e­brat­ing its 40th an­niver­sary this year. Artists, in­clud­ing Fatu Feu’u and Belinda Wil­son have con­trib­uted a va­ri­ety of works to be auc­tioned off and Tony Pig­gott has do­nated his art col­lec­tion for the cause. Auc­tion co-or­di­na­tor Soala Wil­son says the women’s cen­tre is a vi­tal re­source for women and their fam­i­lies. ‘‘Pro­ceeds from the art auc­tion will be used where it is most needed, pro­vid­ing a range of free, or af­ford­able, qual­ity ser­vices and par­tic­i­pa­tory projects for women,’’ she says. ‘‘We are ex­cited to see so many lo­cal artists con­tribut­ing to the event.’’ Works are avail­able to view at The Works Hair Sa­lon, 142 Wil­liamson Ave, Grey Lynn to­day, May 15, from 3pm to 9pm and to­mor­row, May 16, from 3pm to 6pm. The si­lent auc­tion closes to­mor­row at 7pm, when the live auc­tion be­gins.
