Fever Pitch is set to take over Queen’s Wharf. The site will be overrun with a football fan hub on May 30 to celebrate the Fifa Under-20 World Cup kicking off in New Zealand. A purpose-built Fifa Cube will be the star attraction on the waterfront, much like the inflatable rugby ball used during the 2011 Rugby World Cup, Ateed external relations general manager Steve Armitage says. It will feature digital displays, high-tech skills stations, an information ‘‘locker room’’, skills demonstrations and face-painting in team colours. Fever Pitch also features an outdoor football field for schools, club competitions and impromptu matches. The attraction is open throughout the tournament from May 30 to June 20 and entry is free. New Zealand open their Under-20 World Cup campaign against the Ukraine at North Harbour Stadium.
