One­hunga Sports Football Club have fallen at the fi­nal hur­dle in their Manch­ester United Premier Cup qual­i­fier. The team lost their fi­nal match 3-0 against Fed­er­a­tion NSW State, miss­ing out on a chance to play at Old Traf­ford. The game was a re­match af­ter One­hunga lost to the same side on their open­ing day in pool play. One­hunga coach Leigh Kenyon says ‘‘the play­ers can still hold their heads high, there is ab­so­lutely noth­ing more they could have done at this tour­na­ment’’ af­ter win­ning three of their four pool matches on open­ing day. Cap­tain Max Mata took home the Golden Boot with a tour­na­ment high of six goals.
