Three Auckland rugby league representatives have made the New Zealand Rugby League honours board at the annual NZRL meeting. Former chairman Sel Pearson (2001-2006) joined the NZRL life members list along with former Kiwis’ players Jack Fagan and Brian Reidy for their decades of service. Pearson’s dedication stretches back to the 1950s where began playing for the North Shore Albion club before going on to serve as the Auckland Rugby League chair from 1998 to 2000. He also was chairman for the New Zealand Warriors in 2001 where he raised millions for the development of the sport. Akarana’s Gordon Gibbons and Pat Carthy were also selected for the Distinguished Service Awards.
