Po­lice say they are dis­ap­pointed by the num­ber of mo­torists caught talk­ing on their cell­phones dur­ing an op­er­a­tion last week. The op­er­a­tion tar­geted dan­ger­ous driv­ing in cen­tral Auck­land. Po­lice is­sued 308 mo­torists with in­fringe­ment no­tices for a va­ri­ety of of­fences in­clud­ing talk­ing on cell phones while driv­ing, speed­ing, not wear­ing re­straints, drink driv­ing and run­ning red lights. Po­lice handed out 12 no­tices to peo­ple for not wear­ing seat belts.
