MT ALBERT OVERBRIDGE
The long-awaited Mt Albert pedestrian overbridge was lifted into place by cranes during the early hours of July 7. The $1.23 million bridge will provide access from the town square to the Mt Albert train station without commuters having to walk along the narrow Carrington Rd footpath. The bridge was funded by Albert-Eden Local Board and NZTA after being put on hold by Auckland Transport. It is expected to be officially opened in August.
