As the lack of community spaces in the CBD is apparent, the $10.71 million redevelopment of the Ellen Melville Centre has been well-received.

As the number of city centre residents triples to more than 34,000 over the past 12 years and is growing, there is an increasing need for more public spaces.

The board has committed support for the environment and diversity within the city such as continuing investments in the current board’s low carbon and urban forest initiatives and making the city a child-friendly place.
