Goff is supportive of the latest plans to redevelop Mt Albert’s Chamberlain Park Golf Course which would reduce the course to nine-holes. ’’The [Albert-Eden] local board believes it should be redeveloped and I put a lot of emphasis on what the locallyelected people say about their neighbourhood,’’ he says.
Remuera Golf Course is an open space Goff thinks could be utilised more and opened to the public. ‘‘To be a member it means effectively you’re being subsidised, according to the economic report on it, to the tune of $12,000 per member by other Auckland ratepayers and didn’t seem to me to be a fair go.’’
However the golf course has a lease which ties up in 2091 making any change unlikely, Goff says.
