Little change for central boards

Auckland City Harbour News - - FRONT PAGE - ELESHA EDMONDS AND CATRIN OWEN

There is nothing very new about the newly-elected councillors and local board members for central Auckland.

While there are a few new faces scattered amongst the local boards, the rest of the members and councillors remain unchanged.

Christine Fletcher (Communities & Residents) and Cathy Casey (City Vision) return as councillors for the Albert-Eden-Roskill ward for another term. The pair have held onto their council roles since the positions were formed in 2010.

Mike Lee, an independent candidate but endorsed by City Vision, was also re-elected as Waitemata and Gulf ward councillor. The veteran politician almost didn’t stand again for council, however he said he had unfinished business and went on to win the seat by 1042 votes.

The central Auckland local boards followed a similar trend: Chambers (City Vision) following closely behind.

Newcomers include Adriana Christie (City Vision), Richard Northey (City Vision) and Mark Davey (Auckland Future). While Jonathan Good (Auckland Future) nearly missed out but managed to beat former member Vernon Tava (City Vision) by 65 votes. The final result will be confirmed on October 13.
