A proposed study will see if electronic cigarettes and nicotine patches can help tobacco smokers quit. E-cigarettes are devices that let the user inhale nicotine with less harmful chemicals than found in tobacco. The research, which will be carried out by the National Institute for Health Innovation, will be the largest trial of e-cigarettes used for quitting conducted anywhere in the world. The researchers are hoping to recruit 1800 people to take part in the trial.
