A threat­en­ing phone call prompted Auck­land po­lice to evac­u­ate twoWork and In­come cen­tres on De­cem­ber 16. As a pre­cau­tion, po­lice cleared Work and In­come of­fices in El­ller­slie and New Lynn af­ter agency call cen­tre staff re­ceived a phone threat, a po­lice spokes­woman said. Po­lice were cur­rently ‘‘mak­ing in­quiries’’ about the threat. In re­cent years the Min­istry of So­cial De­vel­op­ment has boosted se­cu­rity at Work and In­come of­fices fol­low­ing the mur­der of two em­ploy­ees in Septem­ber, 2014.
