Members of the public can vote for their favourite patrolled beach for a chance to win their beach a sun safe beach canopy for lifeguards. The competition is a part of DHL’s summer campaign to improve beach safety and acknowledge the work of Surf Saving Clubs. Each year, New Zealand’s 74 local Surf Life Saving Clubs help patrol more than 80 beaches and deliver a key safety message to the community – swim at patrolled beaches between the red and yellow flags. Each vote on dhlsummer.com will also enter individuals into the draw to win DHL towels. The DHL Summer campaign will run from January 16 to February 12. Last summer about 4500 lifeguards performed more than 100,000 preventative actions during 221,845 hours of beach patrol around New Zealand.
