SHORT-SIGHTEDNESS IS ON THE INCREASE, AND MODERN LIFE MAY BE TO BLAME. NEW RESEARCH PUBLISHED IN THE OPHTHALMOLOGY JOURNAL SUGGESTS THAT BY 2050, HALF THE WORLD WILL BE MYOPIC (SHORT-SIGHTED).

Auckland paediatric ophthalmologist Justin Mora says children in Asian countries are particularly susceptible, because they are increasingly living in apartments, travelling on subway trains, spending large periods of the day on electronic devices, and not having enough time outdoors. Data shows children should be outside in natural light for at least 10 hours a week.
