Pipe meringue bases to be the same size as the top of the ice-cream cone.

Meringue can be made up to a week ahead; as­sem­ble close to serv­ing as the cones will soften.

You can buy mini waf­fle cones from gelato shops or del­i­catessens, or trim the tops off larger cones.
