Is black a good slimming colour for the curvy figure? What is the best way to wear it without looking pale and washed out? I find black isn’t very flattering with my fair skin.

Black can be a slimming colour for a curvy figure if you aren’t dressed in black from head-to-toe. Any solid colour all over isn’t going to flatter any figure or size. Think about layering light colours under dark (white blouse under dark vest or jacket) or colour-blocking (where two or three colours are used in graphic shapes). This adds interest, and when darker coloured panels appear along the sides of your body or around the waist, it will make you appear thinner. To avoid looking washed out, you might like to try other dark colours instead, such as navy, grey, brown and the darker shades of red and green.
