The 5-second rule

Australian Women’s Weekly NZ - - WELLBEING -

You may want to think twice before using the five-second rule for food that’s fallen on the floor. A recent study in the United States showed it takes less than a second for dropped food to become contaminated by bacteria. The degree of contamination varied for different foods and surfaces, with high-moisture foods such as watermelon picking up the most bugs, and carpet having the lowest transfer rate.
