Australian Women’s Weekly NZ - - DESTINATIONS -

If a flight to Europe is not on the cards, head north anyway. Russell was the first permanent European settlement and port in New Zealand; the original street plan and names have remained in place since 1843. The pub holding New Zealand’s first liquor licence and our oldest operating restaurant are both found on the Russell waterfront, while the turbulent history of the region is now the backdrop to a beautiful and peaceful retreat.
