The Girl With the Lower Back Tattoo

Australian Women’s Weekly NZ - - BOOKS - by Amy Schumer, Simon & Schuster.

Comedian Amy Schumer is the antidote to the Kardashians and everything wrong with the world for young women. Here, Schumer finds dozens of ways to be hysterical. She prints extracts from her teenage diaries and annotates them with hilarious results. She writes her own obituary and riffs on parenting failures. It all, apart from vagina jokes, comes from a thoughtful place, addressing sexism, illness, violence against women, gun control and more. The story of her father’s multiple sclerosis is incredibly moving. She may describe herself as having a “Cabbage Patch head” and mistake pictures of herself paddle-boarding for Alfred Hitchcock enjoying water sports, but for that reason she’s my kind of girl.
