Australian Women’s Weekly NZ

Letter of the month

Great issue You’ve done it once again, Australian Women’s Weekly, with the February issue’s beautiful photos of Richie and Gemma on their wedding day, and a mindboggling choice of what to read first... the wonder women on page 40, Ita Buttrose looking amazing at 75, saying farewell to Carrie Fisher and my teenage favourite Debbie Reynolds, or Oprah? I feel as if I have known Oprah forever! As she has engaged with audiences throughout the world, I have learnt about her childhood, her early years in television, her relationships. She has shared herself with us as friends do, and that is why starting with her story was my choice. What Oprah says sounds like problems many of us experience with our weight, as we become slaves to yo-yo dieting and trying to lose those few kilograms, week after week! It is wonderful to see that Oprah is at last comfortable in her own skin and enjoying life, having established a healthy, acceptable routine and lifestyle. She’s a great example to all of us ordinary women battling weight issues. ISABEL ASHMORE
