I have really big, wide hips and much smaller everything else. What are some outfits I can wear that balance out my proportions? Choose tops and jackets that have detail, an embellishment or bold pattern on them, as they draw the eye upwards. By wearing darker colours on your lower body, the eye will always pan up to where the excitement is. I love to wear halter or strapless tops/ dresses as they balance out my wider hips. Ensure jackets fall just below the hip line. If wearing a longer jacket, make sure it isn’t too tight. A-line dresses/skirts will be your best friend. A slightly plunging or V-neckline will also draw the attention upwards. An empire waist or wraparound dress is also flattering. Make sure the bottom half has some volume but isn’t so full that it makes you appear bigger than you are. Lastly, pay attention to how you look and feel in an outfit or particular silhouette. Remember it and start playing around with colours, patterns and fabrics. Be adventurous!
